A) Manufactured circa 1876 to 1877. These revolvers are only 70 numbers apart and were paired and embellished upon their delivery as they were both shipped together June 8, 1878 to R.W. Robinson of New York. They feature gold and nickel finish with typical New York broad leaf scroll engraving on the sides of the barrel with a zigzag line running through the middle, a broad scroll and punch dot design on the sides of the top strap and floral scroll and punch dot on the rear sides of the frame. There is a zigzag line and dot design on the sides of the barrel lug and on the back strap. The top of the barrel rib is marked with the two line address/patent dates, and the matching serial number is marked on the butt, rear cylinder face, barrel latch and barrel. The cylinder, hammer, barrel latch and trigger are gold plated and the remainder of the revolver is nickel. Fitted with smooth pearl grips. The pair come in a period retailer case with inset brass shield on the lid and rust colored velvet lining, fitted for the two revolvers and two cartridge boxes. In the case are two sealed empty 50 count boxes U.S. Cartridge Company for .38 caliber Central Fire cartridges.
