Attractive Indian Katar Dagger with Dual Flintlock Pistols
Measuring 15 1/2" in overall length, with a blade measuring 10" long and 1 3/4" wide, with single fullers and an illegible punched number on one side. The blade is a separate component from the grip, possibly a repurposed sword blade, secured with rivets through a pair of raised floral decorated triangular panels. The gilt finished brass hilt measures 6" long and 2 3/4" wide at the dual grasping bars, with pierced-through bead designs along the edges and raised floral decoration. Fitted to either side of the grip and running parallel to the spine of the blade are a pair of box lock flintlock pistols, with flared cannon muzzles, punch dot and leafy floral engraving on the barrels and atop the locks, and scenes of an elephant squaring off against a boar on each side. The triggers run into the grip, where they can be pulled by the index and little fingers.
