Attractive Engraved Parker Side by Side 28 Gauge 00 Frame Shotgun with Miller Single Trigger and Box

This example was manufactured after Remington acquired Parker in 1934. It has the CH level of engraving with extensive floral scroll engraving along with game scenes on the sides of the receiver and on the trigger plate. The left side of the receiver shows three quail in a grassy field, the right side of the receiver shows three pheasants in a grassy field and the trigger plate shows a lone grouse in flight over a grassy field. "PARKER" is engraved on the bottom of the receiver. The Acme steel barrels have two white bead sights, are choked .000/.008 and the chambers measure 2 7/8 inches with ejectors. The barrel lug is stamped with the gauge "28" and frame size "00". The left side of the barrel lug is stamped with the matching serial number. The barrel flat is stamped with an "A" in a circle, with the weight "2 11", with the Parker proofmarks, with an "N" and with "D F" (possibly a Remington manufacture/repair code for September 1937/1959). The firing pin holes are 15/16 of an inch apart. The water table has lightening cuts and is stamped with "PARKER BROS.", a "C", a "CH" and the serial number. Fitted with a non-selective Miller Single Trigger and a tang mounted safety. Mounted on multi-point checkered beavertail walnut forearm and straight grip stock with a blank initial oval and a checkered butt with skeleton buttplate. The bores both measure .549. With an original Parker box having an end label on both sides (one side is mostly filled out but writing is very faint and unreadable). Consignor's notes indicate that this shotgun is listed in the Parker records as a lower grade gun and was likely sent back to the factory to be upgraded. 2 3/4 inch chambers, bore diameter: R- .548 L- .549, bore constriction: R- .005 L- .013, length of pull: 14 1/8 inches, drop at comb: 1 1/2 inches, drop at heel: 2 1/2 inches, weight: 6lbs 0oz.

Professionally upgraded to CHE grade, 99% of the high quality blue finish remains with some light surface oxidation on the rib and some scattered minor scratches and dings. 98% of the bright case colors remain with some minor handling/storage wear. The wood is excellent with some dings on the lower left side of the buttstock. Mechanically excellent. The box is very good with some wear and minor flaking. A very attractive representative example of a Parker Brothers CHE Grade 28 Gauge Shotgun.
