Produced by Samuel Coddington, 1739-1830, a gunsmith in Stamford who also served as that town's mayor. Produced without sights, with "TK" and London Crown "V" and "GP" stamps on the left side, floral scrollwork at the breech and on the tang, and the top marked "STAMFORD" and "D-C 2707". Scroll engraving is present on the hammer and lock, with "S. CODDINGTON" in a banner below the flashpan, and a roller frizzen. The triggerguard has an acorn finial and light floral engraving. Smooth stock, with a horn tipped ramrod, silver pipes, stands of arms and flags on the reverse plate, raised carvings around the tangs, armorial designs around the thumb shield, and a grotesque face buttcap.
