Collection of four items concerning atomic energy, including a true first printing of the Report on the International Control of Atomic Energy, generally known as the Acheson-Lilienthal Report, 76 pages, March 16, 1946, in original blue printed wrappers labeled “Restricted”; a mimeographed statement by Acheson, one page, stapled to the first page of the report; a one-page mimeographed cover to the report labeled in bold red text, “Confidential, Future Release, Note Date,” stating the release date of March 27, 1946; and a typescript of a draft for an article about the report by Watson Davis, three pages, with two pages of his accompanying handwritten notes. In overall very good to fine condition. This important report of the early Cold War era, not released to the public until March 28, 1946, discussed possible methods for the international control of nuclear weapons and the avoidance of future nuclear warfare.
