A rare test pressing of Classic Rock 1966–1988, issued in 1988 by Atlantic Records (catalog number 781 935-1) to celebrate the label’s 40th anniversary. This double LP compilation showcases over two decades of Atlantic’s most iconic artists, including legendary performances by AC/DC, Led Zeppelin, Yes, Foreigner, Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young, Twisted Sister, and Robert Plant. AC/DC are represented with two of their signature anthems, “Highway to Hell” and “Back in Black,” highlighting their impact within the label’s legacy. The album was co-produced by Perry Cooper along with Bob Kaus and Bob Porter, with executive production by Atlantic’s founder Ahmet Ertegun. This test pressing features plain white labels with handwritten catalog details, making it a unique pre-production example of this celebratory release. A standout piece for collectors of Atlantic Records history, classic rock memorabilia, and AC/DC rarities.
