This cert contains five 5c green Nevada revenue stamps. Also three 5c and 1 10c US revenue stamps. # 215 for 20 shares to James Fraser. Signed by Samuel D King and president Niles Reese(?). Dateline Carson City N. T. 1866. Incorporated July 18, 1863. One vignette of an allegorical figure on the left. Green print and border. Pink safety print. Stock is uncancelled. Printer unspecified. 9" x 4". Unsigned red-brown, twenty-five cent, Power of Attorney Revenue stamp on right hand side. Cut unevenly left. No edge, corner discoloration of pinhole issues. The Eastern Slope Mining District was on the east side of the Sierra Nevada Mountains. Coincidentally the newspaper for the town of Washoe City was called the 'Eastern Slope.' Listed in the Athens Lode of the Eagle and Washoe Valley Mining District. [Handbook of Mining Law, 1878] The Casherie G&S MC was also in the Eastern Slope District. Fraser was the Ormsby County treasurer. King was a Carson County recorder, district judge, prosecuting attorney, and assemblyman.
