Jack Swigert personally owned NASA mustard yellow coveralls, which were a standard issue NASA flight suit during the 1960's. Two days after Apollo 13's launch on 11 April 1970, an oxygen tank exploded and the crew was forced to abandon the mission and fly back to Earth in the dangerously compromised spacecraft. Suit features a NASA patch sewn to right breast, an ivory-colored Velcro strip to the left breast, and an Apollo XIII colorful patch on right sleeve depicting three of Apollo's chariot horses flying toward the Moon, and the slogan ''Ex Luna, Scientia'' (''from the moon, knowledge''). Tag sewn to inside collar reads, ''Coveralls, Flying, Mens / Durette, Gold, Type CWU/P / NAS 9-13727 MIL-C-83141''. Size 40R suit has many zippered pockets throughout. Near fine condition. With an LOA from Swigert's sister.
