c1900s - Lot of 8 instruments including 1) A c1900 W. S. Darley & Co. Chicago telescopic mining compass. The 3.5" diameter compass needle casing appears to be corroded brass, while the 28" telescopic handle seems to be aluminum. The interior of the compass is corroded, worn, rusted, and appears to have been water damaged at some point--the paper with the degree markings is torn halfway through. 2) A grey steel Taylor Company mining anemometer inscribed "Velocity in Feet/ Rochester N.Y." measures in hundreds and thousands, and features a reset lever and on/off switch. The cover crystal is missing, but this instrument is in very fine condition otherwise. The top of the casing is marked 4703. 3) A "Standard Cell" No. A700L inscribed "Do not short circuit or connect to voltmeter. Return cell for check or use potentiometer. To preserve constancy this cell should not be exposed to temperatures below 32*F or above 140*F." This standard cell measures 3.5" x 4.5" x 1.5" and bears two knobs on the top above "+" and "-" symbols. Some erosion on the metal face plate, but otherwise in fine condition with a black surface. 4) A black 3.25" x 4" x 1.75" instrument marked "galvanometer, blasting/ Dixson, Incorporated/ Meter Division, Grand Junction, Colo./ Battery Cover/ Warning: Battery Must be Silver/ Chloride Cell only/ Serial No. 4". Very fine condition. Includes fitted brown leather case with snap closure, missing leather carrying straps. 5) A fine blue US Dept. Of Labor "Spotter" TM Permissible Methane Detector, Model N. Includes heavy black cord for carrying. Circa 1920s-50s. 6) Bacharach Industries FloRite Anemometer, calibrated for 0-1000 feet per minute. Rugged black finish. Includes black lather carrying case with pockets for included tools: leveling foot, black tool, and aluminum tool with shovel shaped end. 7) A fabulous "Davis Instrument Mfg. Co./ Baltimore, Maryland" anemometer with on/off and reset switches. High polish on aluminum fan blades, grey body. Includes fine brown leather case punched "JPT" on front. Snap closures. Leather belt loop. 8) A French made gimbaled brass compass with a green felt lines black leather case. The lid is separated from the case. -61929
