Assorted Lot of Campaign Match Safes: Grant, Cleveland, Harrison, and McKinley. This is an offering of four different figural head match safes. These are all in fine working order. The spring and clasps work well and each is tight. Since wooden matches were the order of the day back in the mid- to late-1800s, these devices were devised by the campaigns to remind the men who carried them who they should vote for. The Grant and Cleveland varieties are silvered brass, while the Harrison and McKinley are plain brass. Each stands about 2 5/8” tall. The Grant and McKinley are somewhat rarer than the Cleveland and Harrison versions. It is not unusual to go two or three years without seeing even one of these in the marketplace, let alone four at once.

Shipping: Miscellaneous Collectibles, Smal (view shipping information)
