Artist James McBey Original Sketch and Note Measuring 7.25" x 10.0" black ink on heavy rag paper stock. Drawn and written at New York City December 23, 1929, as holiday greeting to Mr. and Mrs. August Kuhn. Extremely Fine but for minor blurring of the ink in line three.

The sketch depicts a stout artist at work, and in the note McBey writes to his host, who had apparently fed him lavishly during his stay with them, " If my figure gets like this and become unable to print any more etchings, you two will be to blame". McBey (d. 1959) was a well known Scottish artist famous for his etchings, and was considered one of the most important modern artist of his day. Auction records for his work run into the low five figures.
