British artist and illustrator (1867–1939) best known for his Art Nouveau–influenced illustrations for such classics as Rip Van Winkle, Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland, and A Midsummer Night’s Dream. ALS, one page, 4.5 x 7, Yale Club letterhead, November 21, 1921. Letter to a gentleman. In full: “It is most kind of you to have thought of me. The football game is exactly what I most want to see. I will be ready for you here at one on Thursday & look forward with much pleasure.” In fine condition, with a pencil notation along top edge and a vertical crease to left side.
