"WINNERS WILL BE NOTIFIED AFTER THE AUCTION ENDS BY THE AUCTIONEER ONCE ALL BIDS HAVE BEEN PROCESSED TO DETERMINE THE WINNER FOR EACH LOT."
Trophy awarded to tennis great Arthur Ashe in 1968 at the Fidelity Bankers Life Invitational tournament. It was this year that Ashe made history as the first African American player to win men's singles at the U.S. Open. Double-handled silver trophy is engraved with the name of the tournament and comes mounted to a base with a silver band engraved, ''1968 Champion''. Lid features a floral finial. Maker's mark is obscured by the base but a similar trophy won by Ashe in the same tournament bears Schwarzschild's mark. Measures 6'' in diameter at the mouth and 13.25'' in total height. Base diameter measures 6.75''. Weighs 3 pounds, 4 ounces. Tarnishing and loosening of base easily tightened, else near fine. With an LOA from Arthur Ashe's widow.
