Arthur Ashe 1988 ''Father of the Year Award'' plaque. The National Father’s Day Committee awards ''Father of the Year'' honors to those men who are leaders in society and who seek to promote citizenship, as Ashe did throughout his entire life. Award is bronze and shaped like a triangle with the top cut off, as part of the intended design. Reads: ''Father of the Year / Arthur Ashe / May 18, 1988 / National Father's Day Committee''. Minor tarnishing and a very sticky verso, else near fine. Arthur Ashe apparently removed this plaque from the trophy it was originally affixed to; he intended to display these plaques in a singular display in his home. With an LOA from Ashe's widow.
