Arthur Ashe's personally owned and worn Black Tennis & Sports Foundation lapel pin. Ashe helped found the Black Tennis & Sports Foundation as chairman of the organization. The program was launched to provide grants to promising minority and disadvantaged junior tennis players for training expenses and coaching assistance. His contributions to this campaign helped to provide scholarships and support to young African American players. Though Ashe retired in 1980 after suffering a heart attack, his ceaseless efforts in various charitable organizations lasted until his passing in 1993. Gold pin has a black border and reads: ''Black Tennis & Sports Foundation / BT & SF''. Measures .75'' in diameter. Near fine. With an LOA from Ashe's widow.
