Outstanding Art nouveau Water Pitcher with raised image of a maiden head and flowers on both sides.
Marks: Used between 1885 and 1920, stylized 'F-A-M' in a tower over 'BONN' over 'FRANZ ANT. MEHLEM'with the normally used 'GERMANY'. Also has an impressed mark, a "THEA" mark and in script 4277- 6836 - 72 and a sign.
Size: 14.25" - 36 cm. tall.
Condition: Very good, no chips, no cracks, no repairs.
The Franz Anton Mehlem Earthenware Factory operated in Bonn, Germany from 1836-1920.
The factory, founded in 1836, was bought by Villeroy and Boch of Mettlach, Germany, in 1921. It closed in 1931.
The Mehlem factory is better known by the trade name ?Royal Bonn,? which it often included in marks starting in 1890.
