<td width="100%">
We have a very pretty large hand painted Nippon vase from the Art Nouveau period. This has the green wreath with the "M" inside dating this to 1911-1921. The vase measures a large 12 3/4" tall and 6 1/4" wide at it's widest middle point. The top mouth of the vase measures 3" and the base 3 3/4". There are two stickers on the bottom that a previous owner has written research information about the vase, Such as; " page 182 Van Patten #2", and "C ST CHN Book, ASL, RSL". The vase depicts a Village harbor with sail boats. There are Women and children harvesting fish from baskets. The double handles on the vase have a unique ribbon look. The gilt decorating is just beautiful with a raised dot outline. The vase is in very good condition with no chips, cracks, or crazing. I noticed that the handles look to have had some restoration to the gilding, and there is some over spray under the mouth where it flares out. This is not noticeable unless you turn the vase upside down, and I didn't notice it until I was taking pictures. If it was touched up, They did a fine job. This is an extraordinary example of Nippon porcelain.
