<td width="100%">
This brooch dates to the earlier Art Deco era and is is very unique in that it combines the reversed carved lucite "Hunting Scene" with the earlier Victorian element of the MIZPAH on the back with an arrow piercing two hearts underneath. The brooch has lovely engraving work around the outer perimeter depicting leaves and thistles. Mizpah means "The Lord watch between me & thee when we are absent one from another." Mizpah brooches were very popular during the Victoria and Edwardian era and were given in friendship and as love tokens. Has a safety clasp on the back. Measures 1.50 inches by 1.25 inches. Excellent vintage condition, obviously hand painted and the colours are still very vibrant and no loss of the paintwork at all. I believe this is either a partridge or duck taking flight from the marshes, on a clear lucite background. No scuff marks, scratches or any damage at all. A very lovely and unique piece indeed.
