Austrian-born composer (1874–1951) whose development of the “twelve-tone” system proved to be one of the most far-reaching innovations in the history of twentieth-century music. Printed thank you letter, signed in ink at the conclusion by Schöenberg, one page, 6.5 x 8.5, dated October 1924. Schöenberg sends thanks for presents given on the occasion of his marriage and his birthday. In part: “I would have liked to write everyone individually. Not so as that I might have composed and measured out my thanks according to merit, but rather to offer an equivalent. For I have received many and manifold beautiful things in these days.” In fine condition, with a few stray ink marks. Accompanied by a printed marriage announcement, as well as the original mailing envelope, partly addressed in Schöenberg’s hand. Pre-certified PSA/DNA and RRAuction COA.
