British lever-operated breech loading single shot rifle chambered for the .577-450 Martini-Henry cartridge, manufactured circa 1880s. Features a blued finish with a 33" barrel, fixed blade front sight, graduated rear sight, two barrel bands with a bayonet lug on the front band, metal forend cap, cleaning rod, serrated trigger, cocked indicator, full length smooth wood forend and straight grip shoulder stock with metal buttplate. Receiver is stamped with a stylized 'MM' monogram along with '3958' and the barrel is inscribed 'Army & Navy CSL London' and stamped '1764' with no visible military marks. Includes an original bayonet with scabbard. The barrel exhibits approximately 25% of its original blued finish with scattered pinprick pitting and the receiver appears to have been refinished with little blue remaining and also shows scattered pitting. Action is mechanically sound, bore is very good+ and the wood stocks are good with a 3" crack on the right side of the butt extending from the buttplate.
