Popular Hollywood ‘Just for Variety’ columnist (1922–2009). Archerd had his own star on Hollywood's Walk of Fame—he was the original ‘Hollywood blogger,’ breaking several big stories of his time. Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences Commendation Medal. Gold-plated medal measures approximately 3? in diameter with a raised relief of an Oscar statue on one side, with the opposite side bearing an engraved presentation which reads, “To Army Archerd in appreciation for outstanding service and dedication in upholding the high standards of the Academy of Motion Picture and Arts and Sciences.” Medal is housed in its original wooden box. In fine condition. Accompanied by a certificate of authenticity from Archerd’s wife Selma.
