Armstrong & Cator Co. of Baltimore Hat Advertisement Poster. Their hats should have been all the rage in 1895. Victorian graphics, ornate and colorful, in this case picturing the spring and summer selection of "what to wear" in hats for the sophisticated lady at the turn of the century. The paper sign, 32.5" by 41.5" (matted size), pictures four ladies in period clothing interspersed among songbirds, flowers, a moonlit scene, and two cherubs. The piece is in very good condition for a paper sign of this size and nature, with some light discoloration along the border and a tear that has been discreetly taped that runs 8" into the 6th row of hats. All is intact and it certainly gives a great appearance. There are some folds as one might expect. Advertising of this type, presenting Victorian era fashion history, is particularly hard to find, especially in this size and quality. Incidentally, the Armstrong & Cator Company was totally destroyed in the massive Baltimore fire of February 1907.

Shipping: Flat Material, Large (view shipping information)
