Available for bidding in this lot is a pair of Argus-Jay Pee and Heid & Roth, Nickel Plated Nipper Come Along Handcuffs. The first handcuff is the Argus - Jay Pee Version 5 "Iron Claw". This handcuff designed in 1931 by Yngve Smith-Stange was built upon until the 1960's. This particular example is the fifth revision, it is evident due to the purchase of Argus in 1960 by a company based in New York - Jay Pee. This handcuff is stamped on one side with "Argus - Jay Pee - New York, N.Y. U.S.A." - PAT. 1950757 - PAT. 2066654". The reverse side is stamped "The Iron Claw - 9088". Lift the protective sleeve and ratchet the T-Handle to open the clamp, twist back and thread the locking sleeve to maintain a solid hold on your perp! The second come-along is the Heid & Roth "Vorführzange", translating to "moving forward pliers". The German "patentschrift" 244149 was filed for this handcuff September 24th, 1910, they were manufactured from roughly 1910-1940. The handcuff is stamped only with "306 - H". All-in-all, both of these Handcuffs are in good mechanical and aesthetic condition, The Heid & Roth Handcuff has more wear from use but still maintains 90% of its nickel finish. The larger of the cuffs is the Heid & Roth which measures approximately 4 1/2" wide 5 1/2" top to bottom.
