Argentine Gaucho Saddle Set
Stately and lavish early 1900s maker-marked PASQUES / 16 G Pellegrini 22, Argentine Gaucho saddle with all the dazzling accessories befitting the famed South American horseman of the Pampas. The set begins with the classic gaucho saddle called "recado criollo." Unlike American saddles, there is no wood or "tree" in the seat but rather constructed of heavy leather tubes with raised areas in the front and back corresponding to the pommel (front) and cantle (rear) of the traditional western saddle. This decoratively stamped leather saddle sits atop the original long goat hair pad and features a regal and royal "lion" coat of arms. It attaches to engraved and monogrammed silver caps on the raised arches. The impressive pair of ornate parade stirrups known as "plateria criolla" or "plateria rurale", showcase the best of South American silverwork. The ornate rawhide bridle with stylized ferrules support a fancy, oversized engraved Mogen David 6-pointed star design bit with gold coin center. Bold and fanciful breast collar. 1 Gaucho accessories include spurs, a sword knife with scabbard, riding whip with silver ferrules, large leather and silver quirt, monogramed carved horn with raised lettering plus a pair of the very coveted & renowned Boleadoras displaying great character and patina.
