Original glossy 8 x 10 silver gelatin photo of Aretha Franklin by photographer David Gahr, which shows the singer holding a cigarette during a recording break at Atlantic Records in December 1967 in New York City. Reverse bears a David Gahr credit stamp. In fine condition, with rippling to the side edges.

David Gahr (1922–2008) was an American photographer whose photographic output features more than five decades of musicians like Phil Spector, Bob Dylan, Miles Davis, Bruce Springsteen, Van Morrison, Janis Joplin, Sonny Terry, John Lennon, Aretha Franklin, and Johnny Cash, among others. His book, The Face of Folk Music, with writer Robert Shelton captured the exploding American Folk music scene.
