<Our item number 140115><B>Brewer Family Archive.</B> Charles Brewer &#40;1804 - 1885&#41; Born to Moses and Abigail May Brewer and descended from a Brahmin Boston family with roots back to the Mayflower. Founder of C. Brewer & Co., Ltd. the oldest surviving company in Hawaii. One of the Big Five families that controlled Hawaii&#39;s economy until the 1950&#39;s. An extensive collection of Brewer Family documents and letters. Approximately 35-40 pieces. <BR><BR>This lot contains seven letters dating from 1825-1876 and one from 1920 regarding various subjects, including real estate transactions, patents, the Brewer family genealogy and personal family matters. Among the items: the Brewer family genealogy plus addendum; a Prospectus for joining the Puritan Registry and letter dated 1931 regarding same; a memo and receipt for passage; real estate transactions and land documents dating from 1818 to 1916, including quitclaim deeds, mortgages, property deeds, promissory notes; three maritime account sales between C harles Brewer and James Hunnewell dated 1869. Charles Brewer&#39;s Last Will & Testament dated 1877; 1861 real estate transaction between Brewer and Lot Kamehameha relative to premises on the corner of Fort and Hotel Streets, Honolulu, Hawaii; 1861 lease by Samuel Savidge of the Stone building on Fort Street, Honolulu, Hawaii Brewer; 1895 letter to Charles Brewer from A. F. Judd regarding payment of claims from crew members of the whaling Bark &#34;Arctic&#34; which was lost in the Arctic ice. Condition fair to fine.
