<B>Archive of Letters to Author Edward Gibbon.</B></I> A group of 7 letters to Edward Gibbon (1737-1794) author of <I>The History of the Decline and Fall of the Roman Empire.</B></I> The letters date from 1753 to 1769 and mainly deal with real estate matters and problems with tenants. The letters are generally toned with age but are still bright, legible and in very good or better condition. Though Gibbon's opus has endured over the centuries, it hasn't escaped criticism for among other things a scathing view of Christianity. <I>Ex. Henry E.
