<Our item number 92108><B>Archive Of A 19th Century California Judge.</B> An archive from the family of Elisha Cotton Winchell, whose family originated in Massachusetts and in 1837 moved to Elmira, Missouri &#40;an 1898 47-page, typed document recalls the family&#39;s journey&#41;. The family moved to Sutter&#39;s Fort in 1850 and settled in Sacramento, then Fresno, and finally Oakland. Winchell was a lawyer, tax accessor, councilman and judge in Oakland. This collection includes checks, court documents, biographies, and some 20 photographs &#40;many c. 1890&#41;, ranging in size from cabinet photos to 11&#34;x14&#34;.
