Manufactured without sights, with light scroll engraving at the breech, "Crown/GP", "40" and "Crown/V" on the left side of the chamber, "DU-4571" on top, and "LPOOL MAIL COACH" behind the flared cannon muzzle, concealed by the top-folding 11 1/4 inch triangular bayonet. Lightly border engraved lock plate, marked "ARCHER" below the fenced flash pan. Smooth straight wrist stock, with lightly engraved brass fittings, an inscription plate marked "PIER/HEAD", and a smooth buttplate numbered to match the barrel. Pier Head, originally George's Dock, is part of the city center of Liverpool, and was a major jumping-off point for trans-Atlantic shipping and ferries across the Mersey estuary, and the Liverpool Mail Coach was a major transporter of mail and people, advertising well lit and guarded coaches.

Very good. The brass is bright overall, darker in the low areas, with minor handling marks. Mild pitting and a mixed brown patina is present on the steel components. Wood is also very good with some filler around the barrel pins, a mended break behind the lock plate, and scattered scratches and dents. Mechanically good.
