The lot features an exceptional ancient pre-historic notched Dovetail or St. Charles long spear point. The spear point shows a finely serrated excurvate curved blade with diagonal deep notches and a convex base. This authentic original dovetail notched spear point was sold by the experts at Desert West Antiques and Auctions of Mimbres, New Mexico and was from the previous estate collection of Ray Hopple from Missouri. This 9000-6000 BC artifact is thought to be from the Missouri Native American Indians and is an exceptionally fine spear point. Provenance: From a multi-generation artifact collection spanning 80-100 years from Las Cruzes, New Mexico (the same collection as the Ancient Kentucky Dovetail and the Archaic Pogo Point from our 4/27/19 sale). The point is in excellent condition and measures 3 7/8”L x 1 3/8”W. The small case (which is marked on the back with info and shows some damage) is 5.25”x5.25” and 1.5” thick.
