This richly decorated Tibetan arcaya ritual helmet was probably the property of a tantric master and consists of partially gilt copper with repoussé work. This ritual headdress rises of three curved steps and each is decorated by golden elements and ruyi boarders. In cartridges shows Buddhist symbols like the gemstone of wish-fulfilment – cintamani and a double-vajra. Below a Buddha figure on a lotus throne is visible. He is holding a vajra and is surrounded by a flaming mandorla. The front of the helmet is decorated with a precious border, showing depictions of Buddha in relief. Each of them is seated in padmâsana position on a lotus throne and show different mudras. They are surrounded by richly decorated mandorlas, consisting of holy white snails. The face of a mythological creature can be seen below the central Buddha figure. The sides of the helmet are curved and adorned with inlays of drop shaped turquoises, corals and round glass beads.

The arcaya helmet is in good condition with natural patina and light age-related signs of wear. Some of the inlays are missing and there is some abrasion of the gilding noticeable. The piece measures 45 cm in height and the diameter is 25 cm.
