The piece is from the Arapaho Native American Indians and features a gun barrel hide scraper. The piece is wrapped in Buffalo hide and shows a Indian forged hide scraper made from Old Western gun barrels traded to them. The rare piece was collected by the owner from the W.R. Black Collection in 1926 with the provenance from Sotheby's Auction. The scraper is from circa 1860-1870 purchased by W.R. Black from the Arapaho Indians in Watonga, Oklahoma area. Very rare important Indian item. Measures 13.75" long with a 2" scraper and a 13.5" strap.
