April 14, 1865-Dated Extraordinary Civil War and Exact Day of President Abraham Lincoln’s Assassination by John Wilkes Booth, Confederate Partly-Printed Document, Extremely Rare “Paroled Prisoner” Pass, Fine.
April 14, 1865-Dated, Partly-Printed Document Signed, “W.C. Randolph”, 1 page, measures 7.5” x 3.75”, Lynchburg, Virginia. This Parole Prisoner Pass being Signed and Issued on the Same Day that President Abraham Lincoln was Assassinated by John Wilkes Booth! This historically dated April 14, 1865 Dated Confederate “Paroled Prisoner” Pass special form reads, in full:

“THE BEARER, Sergt. H. Hutter of Co. B, 62nd Regt. of Virginia, a Paroled Prisoner of the Army of the Confederate States, has permission to go to his home, and there remain undisturbed. - (Signed) W.C. Randolph, Surg: in Charge Gen. Hos. No 2”.

Folds, some heavy from actual use with some paper reinforcement on the blank reverse side with reverse side staining from four prior mounting points, and having some show-through to the face. Typeset with fancy margin designs at left, printed in black on off-white wove period paper and is fully legible. This historic Confederate Document doubtless saw much physical wear, varied weather conditions, and had actual use. Our current estimate is extremely modest and should bring a much higher sale price. One similar type document sold some months ago from a prominent dealer in Chicago in nicer condition, for $6,500 and still other examples have sold for even higher amounts in the past. An extremely desirable tangible official Confederate Document, being a testament to the end days of the American Civil War. Exceptional and Rare. This April 14, 1865 Dated Confederate “Paroled Prisoner” Pass Rarity being Issued on Abraham Lincoln’s Assassination Date when he attended the play “OUR AMERICAN COUSIN” at Ford’s Theater, and was murdered by John Wilkes Booth!
