Electrical power instrument panel from an original Apollo Command Module of the old Block 1 spacecraft series. The item measures approximately 16.5 inches tall, 22 inches at its widest point, and weighs about 20 pounds. This panel, likely a back-up or training mechanism, is believed to be fully intact and bears an array of electronics, wiring, dials, and switches. Among the many printed identifiers are those marked “Fuel Cell Indicators,” “Battery Charger,” “H2 Purge,” “AC Inverter,” and “DC Indicator.” This is the same type of panel used by NASA during the mid-1960s in preparation for the Apollo 1 mission, which claimed the lives of astronauts Gus Grissom, Ed White, and Roger Chaffee in 1967. North American Aviation sold the remaining parts from the Apollo program after the accident. According to our consignor, this rare and beautiful Apollo-era artifact has been held in his private collection for at least 30 years. Interesting and unusual early Apollo-era hardware.
