Dark green USAF flight jacket from the personal collection of Paul Kruppenbacher, a member of the NASA Houston Landing and Recovery Division who trained Apollo astronauts in water recovery procedures and was deployed on U.S. Navy aircraft carriers for crew and spacecraft recovery operations. The jacket boasts an embroidered NASA 'meatball' patch on the right chest, and a white-on-blue name patch, "Kruppenbacher," on the left. It is lined in bright orange and features two interior pockets, with two additional pockets on the front. It also has a zippered pouch on the left sleeve. In fine condition. Kruppenbacher notes that this was issued to him by NASA in support of Apollo spacecraft recovery operations. It was required for and used by him for USN operations onboard their aircraft carriers and aboard USAF C-133 aircraft, the latter which transported Command Modules from the receiving ports (Norfolk, VA and Pearl Harbor, HA) to CONUS sites for postlanding analysis.
