Portion of the honeycomb VCOAT 5026-39HCG heat shield test block material for the Apollo Command Module Thermal Protection System from 1966, 5.75 x 2 x 2, bearing a small metal identification plaque. In fine condition. Developed by AVCO Corporation, with integration by NAA (North American Aviation), the block is comprised of an extremely lightweight fiberglass honeycomb which is hand filled by air gun with the ablative resin material.
