Signed book: Where No Man Has Gone Before: A History of Apollo Lunar Exploration Missions (NASA SP-4214). Washington, DC: Government Printing Office, 1989. Softcover, 7 x 10, 415 pages. Signed on the half-title page in blue ink by five astronauts, all adding their missions: "Wally Schirra, Apollo 7," "Tom Stafford, Apollo X," "Gordon Cooper, Apollo 10 BU CDR," "Richard Gordon, Apollo XII," and "Fred Haise, Apollo 13." In fine to very fine condition.

The comprehensive text includes the first plans for Apollo in the early 1960s, then the challenges between scientific interests and manned flight. Space vehicle operations, crew training, mission and lunar sample return planning are covered plus the issues and new procedures brought about by the Apollo 1 spacecraft fire. Extensive text covers the initial Apollo lunar landings with detailed accounting of the last three landings that focused on major scientific objectives: Apollo 15, 16, and 17. These last three lunar landing flights all utilized the use of the lunar rover for extended surface coverage while employing three explorations that greatly increased time spent on the lunar surface.
