Uncommon 1˝ x 1˝ swatch of expansion joint material, attested to as flown by Test Conductor Jerry Wilken, from the Apollo 8 Command Module (CSM-103), the first spacecraft to reach the moon, orbit it, and return. The swatch is housed in a small plastic pouch affixed to an 8.5 x 11 letter of authenticity, which reads: "This piece of Expansion Joint Material was removed from the Apollo 8 Command Module by the post flight test team of North American Rockwell Corporation at the Downey facility. This was a piece of the Jerald B. Wilken Space Collection. Jerry Wilken was Test Conductor for the second shift of the post flight test team who examined and inspected the command module systems and structure." In fine condition.
