Flight-flown printed fabric American flag, 6 x 4, flown aboard Apollo 7, the first manned Apollo mission. Flag is affixed by its corners to a 10 x 12 certificate stating “This flag was carried aboard the first manned Apollo spacecraft Apollo VII.” Signed and inscribed in black felt, “Best Wishes John. I know you’re gittings [sic] ahead! Wally Schirra,” “To John, Warm personal regards. Your support is tremendous, Walt Cunningham,” and signed by Donn Eisele. Originally presented to John Holland, who was in charge of NASA’s photographic laboratories. In fine condition, with a faint block of toning over most of the certificate and small squares of toning to each corner of flag from adhesive on reverse.
