Rare and highly desirable limited edition 40th Anniversary Apollo 17 commemorative display by Winco, AP 191/200, featuring an exclusive, limited edition medallion and a ‘First Footprints’ emblem, both minted with metal flown to the moon during Apollo missions. Double-matted with nine pins honoring the Mercury, Gemini, and Apollo missions, engraved plates impressively cut in the shape of a capsule, and a gorgeous photo collage print of the Apollo 17 mission, signed in gold ink by moonwalker Gene Cernan; framed to an overall size of 24 x 20. In very fine condition. Accompanied by a certificate of authenticity from Winco, which states that this “presentation has been commissioned by Captain Gene Cernan, who has also signed the edition-exclusive lithograph featured in each frame. Limited to 200 frames, this Artist’s Proof is also an Official NASA Commemorative.” The consignor notes that Cernan presented 150 of these AP pieces to special guests at his Apollo 17 40th Anniversary event at the Naval Base in Pensacola, Florida. The remaining 50 framed pieces were given to Winco to distribute, with this particular edition deriving from the personal collection of Winco President Andy Boston. A handsomely designed artist proof from history's last man on the moon.
