Appealing group lot of four official publications for the Apollo 15 mission, including: an official NASA booklet entitled “On the Moon with Apollo 15: A Guidebook to Hadley Rille and the Apennine Mountains,” June 1971, 46 pages, written by Gene Simmons, Chief Scientist of the Manned Spacecraft Center; a stapled booklet entitled “Apollo 15 Press Kit,” prepared by the Manned Spacecraft Recovery Force, Atlantic Task Force 140, Building SP-71 at the Naval Air Station in Norfolk, Virginia; an RCA press folder for the Apollo 15 mission with front showing the crew and the mission emblem, containing a stapled “Apollo 15 Press Information” packet from General Electric, dated July 22, 1971; and a Western Union International (WUI) press folder entitled “Apollo 15: Color TV Coverage of Splashdown and Recovery,” containing three stapled ‘News Release’ packets, a WUI manned space flight chart, and a 28-page booklet entitled “Western Union International, Inc. 1970 Annual Report.” In overall fine condition, with some rust to staples and an ownership notation to front cover of the Simmons booklet. From the collection of Tim Furniss, Flight International magazine’s spaceflight correspondent from 1984 to 2006, and author of over 35 published books on space history.
