Important bracket-bound manual from the MIT Instrumentation Laboratory entitled "R-567, Guidance System Operations Plan for Manned LM Earth Orbital and Lunar Missions Using Program Luminary 1B (REV. 116), Section 4, PGNCS Operational Modes (REV. 6), September 1969,‰Û bound in blue "Apollo Guidance, Navigation and Control" softcover wrappers, 3.25è thick, marked "Pearson" on the front cover as Robert Pearson‰Ûªs personal copy. Mr. Pearson was the lead KSC Lunar Module Simulator instructor to the Apollo astronauts, and he often said: 'I‰Ûªve landed on the moon more times than anybody in the world.' This manual references the 33 Luminary Programs, with the most significant programs being associated with the actual lunar landing start with P63 (Breaking Phase), then P64 (Approach Phase), moving to P65 (Landing Phase ‰ÛÒ Auto), next being P66 (Landing Phase with Astronaut controlled ROD or Rate of Decent), and finally P67 (Manual control of the Landing Phase). Finally, P68 (Landing Confirmation), terminates the landing program and allows display of the landing coordinates.

The preface defines the purpose of the document: ‰ÛÏThe Guidance System Operations Plan is published as six separate volumes (sections) as follows: Section 1 Pre-Launch, Section 2 Data Links, Section 3 Digital Autopilots, Section 4 Operational Modes, Section 5 Guidance Equations, Section 6 Control Data. This volume, Revision 5 of Section 4‰Û_describes the operational modes of the missions. It constitutes a Control Document to govern the structure of these missions, including PGNCS interfaces with the flight crew and MCC.‰Û In very good to fine condition, with some staining to the spine page edges and back cover, and rusting and deterioration to back cover spine; interior of manual is largely unaffected.
