Apollo 12 Charles Conrad Space Flown Relic
Extremely rare, desirable and historic American flag flown over 20,000,000 miles in outer space by Commander Pete Conrad, the third man to walk on the moon. Conrad took this flag on his very first space mission, Gemini V, and continued to take it on all other missions including Gemini XI, Apollo XII (where it reached the lunar surface) and Skylab I, our first manned space station. The flag is likely the most traveled one in world history. It is a precious piece of American and world history and is truly a museum quality treasure. It symbolizes the milestone set by our nation when we became the ones to first visit the lunar surface, the culmination of President John F. Kennedy’s dream to beat the Russians in the space race, which was very intense at the time. Pete Conrad died tragically in a motorcycle accident in July of 1999, leaving behind a rich history of space exploration and, indeed space pioneering. The flag is accompanied by Conrad’s handwritten letter of authenticity outlining where the flag traveled with him and how many miles it flew on those journeys. In fine condition and one of the most important pieces ever to be offered by Odyssey. Est. 17000 - and up
