Large and visually striking flight-flown 9 x 9 swatch of Beta cloth, with a 3” diameter Apollo 10 mission emblem in the center, signed in black felt tip, “Gene Cernan” and “John Young, Barnstorming the Moon!” and in blue ballpoint, “Flown to the Moon on Apollo X. May 18-26, 1969. Tom Stafford.” In fine condition, with faint show-through of yellowing on the reverse touching the first letter of Young’s name. Young’s inscription is a reference to a Life magazine cover story on the ‘dress rehearsal’ flight for the upcoming moon landing. Ironically, the mission almost ended in tragedy as Cernan and Stafford momentarily lost control of the lunar module while coming within a few miles of the moon’s surface. Wonderful relic from the last Apollo mission before the historic Apollo 11 moon landing.
