Apollo 1 Flammability Test Teflon Lacing and Kapton Coated Wire – Mounted on a Descriptive Coa. Following the Apollo 1 fire on 1/27/67 a series of flammability tests were conducted in the CM Boilerplate chamber. The Teflon Lacing and Kapton coated wire were 2 of the fire-resistant materials tested and then incorporated it the Apollo CM and LM spacecraft. These samples were from the original batch, some of which was used for testing. Both of 2 wire samples are 6" long and are affixed to the COA by the lacing.
