Apache Quilled Buffalo Sheath & Old Trade Knife
The lot features an Apache porcupine quilled buffalo hide knife sheath and old trade knife with stamping of San Carlos Apache Reservation in Arizona. The sheath exhibits an Indian tanned buffalo bison hide with red dyed finish and is adorned with porcupine quill quillwork with colors of red, purple and natural cream white. There are hide fringed with cone danglers at the center and bottom. There is a parfleche rawhide hard liner on the inside. This is paired with an old 1890-1900 typical trade knife with copper rivet handle and brass tacking. One side is stamped into the wood San Carlos Agency, very possibly old, but likely a later addition. The sheath measures 9.5-inches long and the knife is 11.5-inches long.
