Antwerp, Michiel Hilen van Hoochstraten, Jan. 1523, 4to, mod. limp boards (provisional binding), kept in a cloth box with gilt title label on front cover, old flyleaf preserved, [46] ff. (some stains, outer margin of titleleaf slightly defective and underlaid, title soiled). Very good copy, printed on coarse paper. € 2000/3000 Cfr. ill. Only complete copy, and the 2nd copy recorded of this Antwerp printing of the encyclopedic dictionary for Latin schools, by the Zwolle grammarian Hermannus Torrentinus (d. 1520). It was 1st published Deventer 1498 and became immensely popular (cp. NK 2050-2060, 3966-3968). Hoochstraten printed it in 1515, 1523 (this ed.), 1527, 1531, 1534, 1537. Title printed within elaborate woodcut border. Decorative woodcut initials. Latin ms. verses on front flyleaf. Library stamps on titlepage. Ref. Nijhoff/Kronenberg 3967 (1: Stockholm, lacking titleleaf). Not in Adams, Machiels, STDutch (BL London), BN Paris, NUC.
