Mexican general and politician (1794–1876) best known in the U.S. for his role in the Mexican-American War and the slaughter of scores of Americans at the Alamo. Partly-printed DS, in Spanish, signed “A. L. Sta. Anna,” one page, 11.25 x 17.25, January 3, 1854. Patent issued to Manuel Gutierrez who has developed a new machine for making chocolate, and stating that he has filed the sketches and description of the machine. He is granted a patent and exclusive rights to use his machine. Signed at the conclusion in black ink by Santa Anna, next to the intact and ornate paper seal with eight “petals” extending from the center, and countersigned by four other officials. Intersecting storage folds, a couple slightly affecting signature, marginal binding holes to left edge, and a few small tape reinforcements to reverse, otherwise fine condition. Pre-certified PSA/DNA and RRAuction COA.
