Mexican general and politician (1794–1876) best known in the US for his role in the Mexican-American War and the slaughter of scores of Americans at the Alamo. Partly-printed DS, signed “Ant. Lopez de Santa Anna,” three pages on two adjoining sheets, 8.25 x 11.75, January 25, 1835. Untranslated appointment of Francisco G. Coure as Army Colonel. Prominently signed on the first page by Santa Anna, with an additional nine signatures of various officials and officers on the second and third pages. In fine condition, with light dampstaining to the right edge, far from the beautifully bold signature.
