Mexican general and politician (1794–1876) best known in the US for his role in the Mexican-American War and the slaughter of scores of Americans at the Alamo. Scarce ink signature, “Ant. Lopez de Santa Anna,” on an off-white 4 x 2.75 slip. Handsomely suede-matted and framed with a portrait of the general to an overall size of 9.5 x 14. In very good condition, with intersecting folds passing through the signature (partial separations repaired on the reverse) and overall creases. Originally sold by Charles Hamilton, with his certificate of authenticity and wax seal affixed to reverse of frame.
